RYA Powerboat Courses
We are please to offer both the RYA Powerboat Courses Levels 1 & 2
RYA Powerboat Level 1
This course is an introduction to boating techniques for launching and recovering a boat from a road trailer, everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment.

This is a one day course. It can be taken alone or may be integrated into the two Level 2 course.
Assumed Knowledge None
Minimum Duration 1 day
Minimum Age 8. However, candidates under the age of 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate.
Course Content Launch and recovery (8-11 year olds observe only)
Preparation of boat and crew, boat handling, picking up and securing to a mooring buoy, leaving and coming alongside, being towed.
Ability upon satisfactory Able to drive under supervision.

RYA Powerboat Level 2
This two day course provides the skills and background knowledge to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competance..
It includes close quarters handling, high speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery and collision regulations. The course can be taken inland or on the coast, naturally courses taken at the AYC are endorsed as ‘Coastal’.
Assumed Knowledge None, may be preceded by Level 1
Minimum Duration 2 days
Minimum Age 12. However, candidates under the age of 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate.
Course Content Launch and recovery, boat handling, securing to a mooring buoy, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside, man overboard.
Ability upon satisfactory Self-sufficient power boater in the right conditions, ware of one’s own limitations and those of the craft.
Completion
Price £160 for members (£75 for members who commit to one year's duty on a safety boat team), £210 for non members.
