Cadets Put on Fine Display for Littlehampton River Revival
Regatta Cadet Dinghy Races, 21 June, 2008
- Jack Holden
To start off, I would like to thank Richard Dobson for running the regatta, and also to the few that took part. A big well done, too, to all the Laser sailors who went on to win it for Arun YC and showed AYAC what we can do!
The Topper event was great fun, although missing the tow strap and hurling myself over the edge of the boat was not the funniest part of my day. With me (Jack Holden), Big Jack, Richard Keen, and young Jake in one topper representing AYC, and Adam, Claudia, and Hugo in another.
The Laser event, on the other hand, was nerve-racking. Although the idea of the race was 'team racing', that is not what most of us had in mind. The rather loud and defiant tone of Mr Robinson on the amplifier (not that you need it, David) added to the excitement as each of our moves was accompanied with words of wisdom over the airwaves: "The Arun Yacht Club team look to be having a little scrap at the mark—they will have to sort something out".
The final results of the Laser races were:
Race 1:
1st - Jack Holden
3rd - Jack Munnelly
6th - Richard Keen
Race 2:
1st - Jack Munnelly
2nd - Jack Holden
4th - Richard Keen
Thanks, once again, to Richard Dobson for running the race,
to David Robinson for the words of encouragement, and to all the
competitors. Great job guys!
